Missing Polyvore

I also remember exactly when Polyvore closed. I was in study hall with a friend who also used the app. I opened the app and... Nothing. They also tried. Nothing. We thought it was the wifi in the building. When I got home, I did a frantic Google search. The whims of capitalism had taken away a community I loved and the 1000+ followers I had earned through hours of work, and me, like the rest of the users, were devastated. I stumbled towards Shoplook a couple months later.

Fashion has always been a creative outlet and relaxation technique for me, from Project Runway as a child to the graphic design courses I'm taking now. I've always had an eye for layout and color, so Polyvore & Shoplook have been so helpful for me. I find solace in the detail work and repetitive actions while making sets, the satisfaction of organizing, and the public response always feels wonderful.

I am also one of a dozen people who share this body, so finding our personal aesthetics mean a lot to us. I have Otherwise Specified Dissociative Disorder subtype 1b, which means I have multiple states of consciousness, with different personalities and preferences. When you live in a body that doesn't look like you, fashion, makeup, and hair styling is key, and letting alters (other states of consciousness) make their own sets gives them autonomy. Learn about the system here, by the way, people tend to be fascinated.

Overall, Polyvore meant the world to me, and Shoplook now means a lot to me too. I can't wait to watch this site grow and evolve going forward. Stay strong, Laya & Co!

  I just got found shoplook like 10 mints ago and you are the first thing I read.I was "what is a polyvore?" I am going to see what this system thing is. Hang in there .
