The short answer to this is that this feature is actually one that costs us each and every time it is used- and a limit helps protect us from abuse and enables us to keep the price of Shoplook premium low!
The long versions:
One of the favorite features of our platform is the ability to remove backgrounds from images. This helps create flawless designs and makes layering effortless.
Background removal like this is actually a very complex feature. To offer it, we had to partner with a 3rd party that lives and breaths this! They are an industry leader and have built background removal that for decades was not possible- even with programs like photoshop.
We were excited to offer this feature to our users but unfortunately, it comes at a cost. In fact, we pay each and every time a user removes backgrounds this way.
To help protect our system from abuse, we had no choice but to limit these credits. The alternative would have been to raise the price of our premium offering and this is something we always try to avoid. Similar apps that offer this feature charge upwards of 14.99/month or 50 cents+ per image the background is removed.
How to avoid running out of background removal credits
We only recommend removing backgrounds using the one-tap background removal for complex images. For example, images with complex backgrounds or a white product on a white background.
For basic product images such as a blue crop top or a pair of jeans against a white background, you do NOT need to use the one-tap image background removal. The alternative (free) option to removing backgrounds for non-complex images is to use our background removal slider.
I have run out of background removal credits. Now what?
